Ecova dug into its experience with major customers — from Office Depot to HEI Hotels — to produce an infographic to tell the story of changing energy habits. (Click on the image to walk through the gallery.)
In the business of helping big-name clients reduce their energy consumption, Ecova sits on a large amount of data about energy costs, energy consumption and the overall energy picture for more than 700 of the country's largest companies.
This week, with the release of a whitepaper and an infographic, Ecova dug into that data to start to pull out the trends the company sees in the nearly 1 billion electronic transactions that flow through its system every day.
With nearly 100 employees in Portland, Spokane, Wash.-based Ecova was formed last year from the merger of Advantage IQ and Ecos which took place in 2009.
In its data (the whitepaper is available here) Ecova found that electricity consumption intensity — measured by killowatt hours consumed per square foot — decreased by 8 percent between 2009 and 2011.
