Naturally Advanced CEO Ken Barker said the partnership with Lenzing is a new frontier for his company.
Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc. added to its partnership roster Thursday announcing it would team with Austria-based Lenzing Group on blending fibers for high-performance fabrics.
Naturally Advanced, which houses its executive team in Portland, will work with Lenzing to blend Naturally Advanced's Crailar Flax fibers with Lenzing's Tencel and Lenzing Modal fabrics.
"With Lenzing, we can now evaluate the opportunity to expand the hose fibers with which Crailar can blend to identify new performance attributes, applications and industries," said Ken Barker, Naturally Advanced's CEO in a press release. "This is truly a new frontier for the future of our natural fibers."
Naturally Advanced, which is exploring the opportunity to source flax in the Willamette Valley, announced in March it would invest $8 million in a South Carolina manufacturing plant.
Other Naturally Advanced partners includes Hanes, Live Strauss & Co, Carhartt and Target.
