Turtle Island Foods has topped off its $10 million new production facility in Hood River with a 1,400-square-foot green roof.
The producer of all-natural refrigerated and frozen meat alternatives — it's almost Tofurky season, brought to tables by Turtle Island — is going for LEED Platinum on its new 33,000-square-foot facility near the Columbia River.

As Wendy Culverwell reports in Portland Business Journal's Real Estate Daily, Turtle Island turned to Surround Architecture in Boulder, Colo., to design the facility. For the green roof, the company tapped Spring Lake, Mich.-based LiveRoof LLC.
The result is a beautiful stormwater treatment solution and lively gathering spot for employees. Check it out in the gallery.
