Oregon State University was the topped ranked Oregon college on the Sierra Club's annual Cool Schools list.
Oregon State University has earned bragging rights from the Sierra Club as the state's greenest university.
The Sierra Club recently released its annual Cool Schools ranking of the nation's most sustainable schools and OSU earned the top stop in Oregon, and No. 11 among the 162 colleges that participated nationally. OSU ranked No. 24 in 2010, when the last Cool Schools list was released.
“[The ranking] showcases OSU’s strength in sustainability – a multifaceted approach that includes student engagement, reducing negative environmental impact, outstanding research and long-term cost savings, all aligned with OSU’s mission,” said OSU Sustainability Coordinator Brandon Trelstad in a statement.
Other Oregon schools deemed "Cool" by the Sierra Club are Lewis & Clark (No. 19), Southern Oregon University (No. 26), Portland State University (No. 31) and the University of Oregon (No. 36).
