A fond farewell, and SBO's next chapter

Mason Walker, Sustainable Business Oregon

Mason Walker is founding associate editor of Sustainable Business Oregon.

Today marks our founding editor's final day at the helm of Sustainable Business Oregon.

Christina Williams joined the Portland Business Journal newsroom three years ago to create this publication you're reading. What started as a humble experiment in new media has turned into a lively hub for discussion about Oregon's challenges, opportunities and successes in pursuit of a sustainable economy.

Since I'm the numbers guy at SBO, I'll try to summarize some of Sustainable Business Oregon's reach under Christina's leadership since our launch in January 2010:

Of course many of Christina's contributions can't be tracked with numbers. Her focus, hustle and dedication to (an oftentimes tiring) journalistic ethic has driven SBO to, I say risking hubris, media relevance.

While I'll miss learning from Christina, I look forward to SBO's next chapter under the leadership of veteran journalist Andy Giegerich, who slides behind the editor's desk beginning Monday, Feb. 25.

A fond farewell, Christina, and good luck with your own next chapter.
