Plug Power lands two deals (Albany)
Plug Power Inc. in Latham, N.Y. said today it will provide 65 of its hydrogen fuel cells to power lift trucks for a major food distributor’s regional warehouse in Sarasota, Fla.
The deal between Plug Power (Nasdaq: PLUG) and United Natural Foods Inc. (Nasdaq: UNFI) of Providence, R.I., will equip 29 of United’s new lift trucks with Plug’s GenDrive fuel cells and retrofit 36 of United’s existing lift trucks with the technology. United Natural Foods plans to replace the Florida distribution center’s lead battery-operated lift trucks by June 2010.
In a separate deal, Plug said The Raymond Corp., a large equipment manufacturer/dealer in Greene, Chenango County, will install Plug’s fuel cells in certain models of its pallet trucks, lift trucks and stand-up trucks.
