Texas launching plastic bag recycling program
Texas is set to be the third state in the country to launch a statewide plastic bag recycling program in conjunction with the national "A Bag's Life" program.
In Texas, the program entails about 1,800 retail drop-off locations. An introduction to the recycling program will be held Feb. 15 in the agricultural museum at the Texas Capitol in Austin.
The program uses social media to get the word out about plastic bag recycling, It has a website www.abagslife.com for more details, and a smartphone app helps consumers locate the nearest place to drop off used plastic bags.
In addition to the retailers, scores of state agencies are involved in the initiative, which is already in place in Florida and Virginia.
