Milliken buys green building materials maker GeoTree Technologies
GeoTree Technologies was acquired by Milliken and Co.
Milliken and Co., a large, privately held international company based in South Carolina, Monday bought Lafayette, Colo.-based GeoTree Technologies Inc. for an undisclosed price.
GeoTree makes geopolymer-based high-tech building materials like mortar and concrete sealants and surface treatments used in infrastructure rehabilitation.
The company’s website says it produces a wide range of specialty chemicals, flooring and performance construction materials.
Earlier this year it won an award from R&D Magazine for a flame retardant, concrete-infused fabric that the magazine said was one of the one of the most innovative products of 2012.
The company employs more than 7,000 people at 39 manufacturing plants in the U.S., United Kingdom, Belgium, France and China, and with other sales and service operations throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Last year, GeoTree was a winner in the Rocky Mountain region’s CleanTech Open’s startup business plan competition.
